About MSS Performance
MSS Performance is an Essex-based motorcycle performance centre with over 40 years of experience in the motorcycle racing industry.
We provide technical support across British Superbikes (BSB), World Superbikes (WSBK), the Isle of Man TT and various levels of competitive racing, alongside performance upgrades and technical development for customer road bikes.
We are looking for a qualified Motorcycle Technician to join our team at our new workshop facility in Colchester, Essex.
Although general servicing is part of what we do, we are far from a conventional motorcycle service workshop. Our specialisms are performance, race preparation and technical development, supported by specialist facilities including:
- In-house dyno facilities
- Dedicated suspension servicing room
- Injector cleaning equipment
- Brake line manufacturing equipment
- Engine building and development facilities
This is an opportunity to work in a varied, specialist environment where no two days are necessarily the same.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing and maintaining customer road bikes and performance/race bikes to a high standard.
- Assembling and disassembling race bikes and components, ensuring all work meets agreed specifications and standards.
- Providing technical support to customers and representing our Kawasaki Team Green Technical Support partnership & ZXMoto Racing.
- Carrying out suspension set-ups, servicing and maintenance.
- Performing dyno work and assisting with performance tuning.
- Carrying out injector cleaning and testing.
- Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults.
- Undertaking periodic maintenance and servicing.
- Removing, stripping, rebuilding and refitting engines.
- Maintaining accurate records of work carried out.
- Potential opportunities to travel and provide technical support to our supported racing teams at circuits.
We want to be clear that this isn't a conventional Service Technician position. While servicing and maintenance form part of the job, the role is heavily focused on performance, technical work and racing. If your main interest is simply carrying out routine servicing, this probably isn't the role for you. We're looking for someone who wants to develop beyond that and be involved in all aspects of motorcycle performance.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is a qualified motorcycle technician with relevant workshop experience.
- Can work independently as well as contribute positively as part of a team.
- Has a genuine interest in motorcycle performance and racing.
- Is enthusiastic about learning, developing their skills and sharing knowledge.
- Takes pride in their workmanship and has good attention to detail.
- Has good communication skills and a polite, professional and courteous manner.
- Is reliable, punctual and takes responsibility for their work.
- Has a positive, proactive attitude and is keen to get involved.
- Full training will be provided where required for the right candidate. Previous experience in performance or race preparation would be advantageous but is not essential for someone with the right attitude and foundations.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience as a Motorcycle Technician.
- Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and think outside the box.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Must have good attention to detail.
Other Essential Attributes:
- Passion for motorcycles/Motorsport.
- Full Car License.
- Bike License preferred.
