THE MAIN JOB FUNCTION

a. To undertake maintenance, service and repair activities on motorcycles/scooters of
all types to the highest standard within the scheduled times.
b. To care for customers’ vehicles and property and seek to achieve the highest
customer satisfaction.
c. To carry out all work in a safe, environmentally friendly and economical way.
d. To build a bank of knowledge and skills to diagnose faults, carry out tests on
vehicles and effect permanent and complete repairs.
e. To share skills and knowledge to develop others within the dealership.
f. To enhance the reputation of Doble Motorcycles. at every opportunity when
interacting with others.

Relationships With:

Service receptionist, other motorcycle technicians, apprentices, parts department
and Personnel Manager.

KEY TASKS AND PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

Skill Activities:
a. Carry out work completely and effectively within manufacturers’ servicing and
repair times or in the case of opinion times, those set by workshop
controller/supervisory staff.
b. Advise and report on vehicle faults and servicing requirements noticed while
working on vehicles, including future servicing/repair requirements.
c. Note and record on job cards and other media as required, all parts, components,
lubricants and consumables used.
Customer Relations:
a. Protect customers’ vehicles with covers and use wipes and other consumables to
keep customers’ bikes clean.
b. Maintain the security of customers’ vehicles while in your custody, including
personal effects and contents of luggage and compartments when they are left
unattended.
c. Ensure that all vehicles are thoroughly examined and report on the condition,
serviceability and safety of vehicles.
d. Explain to customers as and when required, the technical nature of repairs
undertaken.
e. Look for ways to identify future customer cost savings by recommending
preventative maintenance and appropriate vehicle expenditure.
f. Ride customers’ vehicles in a safe and considerate manner at all times.

Control of costs:
a. Ensure that all time spent on jobs and materials used are accurately recorded on
job cards.
b. Work carefully to avoid accidental damage to vehicles and components during
work activities.
c. Seek to minimise wastage of all materials, oils and fluids by careful use and
encouraging the careful use by others.
d. Care for all plant and tools belonging to the business and not to misuse same.
e. Ensure that all work undertaken complies with both dealership and manufacturers’
safety standards.
f. Seek to minimise non-revenue and other diversionary time by using an organised
and disciplined approach to job tasks and objectives. Accurately record and report
on all such lost time in an objective manner to assist the Workshop Controller seek
ways to reduce and overcome, diversionary and lost time problems.

MAIN WORK ACTIVITIES

a. Repair, test vehicles and diagnose their faults as and when required by Workshop
Controller and supervisory staff.
b. Carry out all work to the highest standard to ensure total customer satisfaction
and repeat/ incremental business
c. Replace components, parts, lubricants and consumables and record usage.
d. Recognise and report on vehicle and component serviceability with an emphasis
on customer and public safety. Ensure that all faults and concerns are reported
orally and recorded in writing on the job card. Serious concerns should be raised
with the Workshop Controller/Group Aftersales Manager.
e. Read, understand and implement technical service instruction data and improved
working practices.
f. Recover damaged or defective vehicles as directed with an emphasis on
personnel safety as well as customer vehicle and contents security.
g. Keep work areas clean and tidy, organised and safe from hazards to health and
safety.
h. Work in a manner consistent with the minimisation of lost, non-revenue and/ or
diversionary time recording all such time in an accurate and complete manner.
i. Carry out preventative maintenance making every effort to minimise unnecessary
customer costs.
j. Seek to find ways to delight customers with regard to the completeness and
quality of work performed.

OTHER DUTIES:

Any other duties as and when required by the Senior Management that are reasonably
within the capabilities of the person and are aimed at achieving the company’s
objectives and goals.

Essential

QUALIFICATIONS, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

a. Served a recognised apprenticeship or other dealership approved training scheme.
b. Obtained a City & Guilds qualification or other adequate qualifications.
c. Experience in the diagnosis, servicing, maintenance and repair of motorcycles.
d. Receive training and maintain best practice in manual handling methods.
e. Organised and methodical approach to problem solving.
f. A care for and attention to detail.
g. Undertaken manufacturers’ training courses and maintained knowledge of work
methods and technical data.
