As one of the largest multi-franchise motorcycle retailers in the UK, Fowlers Motorcycles is seeking to appoint an energetic and skilled individual to join our Service Department.

Reporting to the Service Manager as a member of the department’s leadership team, the purpose of the role of the PDI Workshop Team Leader is to support the team with technical advice and problem-solving, and to assist in optimizing efficiency and quality of work. You will also be a productive technician as required, with time allocated to enable the team-support elements of your role. Providing first-class service to customers is essential.

- Workshop control for the PDI department, responsible for maximising productivity and efficiency through effective job loading and parts supply.
- Key point of liaison with internal customers.
- Assist the technicians in diagnosing and resolving issues as needed.
- Delegate technical support to other technicians according to their skill set.
- Identify and report technicians’ training needs and opportunities to the Service Manager.
- Identify and report any opportunities to the Service Manager which may enable increased efficiencies and quality of work within the team.
- Assist individual team members by providing one-to-one coaching to improve speed and quality of workmanship.
- Notify your line manager of any personal or work issues within the team which may affect an individual’s and/or your team’s performance or well-being.
- Support the wider team including Reception, Warranty and Parts.
- Provide feedback from the team to management.
- Ensure that the team is always courteous and helpful with customers, visitors, and co-workers.

Essential

- Fully qualified MOT technician with a minimum of 10 years’ experience.
- Extensive riding experience to be able to accurately diagnose faults on road tests.
- Knowledge of a wide range of manufacturers.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to advocate both for the team and management.
- A good communicator, who is proficient in spoken and written English.
- A proactive team player with good customer service and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and demonstrate a consistently professional demeanour.
- Skilled in building first-rate interpersonal relationships.
- Self-motivated and able to work autonomously.
