Should be able to easily commute to Greenwich in Southeast London and East London.

If you choose to be a freelance instructor, the pay for this job is dependent on days and hours you are available to work.
We can offer PAYE or freelance instructor work on a full time/part-time/ seasonal basis.
The rate quoted is representative of the rate of pay for holders of a CBT 1 card or down trained instructors, who do not train other instructors.
However, for DAS qualified applicants there is an additional pay structure.

We are seeking motorcycle instructors who are able to work effectively with students of varying skill levels, and who have the ability to communicate material in a way that is engaging and understandable.

The ideal candidate will be a passionate educator and motorcyclist with extensive knowledge of the subject matter being taught. To be considered as an instructor, it is also necessary to be able to teach in a manner that meets the unique needs of students with different learning styles. And finally, excellent organizational skills will be required as will a degree of spontaneity from time to time.

You will be:

Checking a new pupil's driving licence is in order and testing their eyesight by asking them to read car number plates.
In a classroom, explaining the aims of the training course, the correct clothing to wear for safety (such as boots, helmet, visible jackets, leathers and waterproofs) and other equipment required.
You will be covering the legal aspects of riding a motorcycle, Highway Code theory and regulations, and safety procedures.
You will explain how the motorcycle works, the controls and how to handle and balance the motorcycle.
Explaining to the pupil how to carry out basic checks on the motorcycle.
Showing the pupil how to control the motorcycle, such as clutch control, pulling away, and basic maneuvers such as, turning in the road or emergency stops.
Going out on the road with the pupils, showing how to safely approach junctions, crossroads, roundabouts and pedestrian crossings.
Taking out either single riders or groups of 2 riders on to the road for a period of 2 hours.
When working in a training centre, teaching other instructors how to teach compulsory basic training.

You may work varied hours, dependent on how the training day goes, usually an 8-hour day.
You will spend your time between teaching in a classroom and out on the road with pupils.
You have to teach people who may be nervous and require reassurance.
The work may be stressful at times.
You will be riding in all weathers with pupils, to teach them how to ride safely in these conditions.

Ideal Candidate

Down trained instructor.
CBT1 and/or DAS qualified.
Someone happy to down train instructors
Adaptability
Knowledge of basic motorcycle maintenance
Patient with learners
You must have or be willing to have a DBS check completed.

Essential

One or more of the following.
DVSA down trained
CBT1 qualified
DAS qualified

Desirable

Female instructors are highly encouraged to apply.
Additional languages a plus (Portuguese/Spanish/Italian/French in particular but happy for other languages)
Ability to be spontaneous on occasion.
Car licence.
